Farm Auction

Farm Auction

Even to this day the current owner still finds artifacts left by these early cultures as they work the ground. It was the ground and water attracted the current family to this farm.In the late 1700′s settlers began a slow claiming of this area after years of conflict with the local Shawnee tribes. The Hinton family began construction of the house in 1798. They in turn sold 254 acres to George and Polly Flaningam in 1811. However, probably due to a clerks error the deed was written to the George Flanagan. We assume to expedite the sale old George just rolled with the punches and signed the deed as a Flanagan. George and Polly are buried just up the road today under a Flanagan headstone.
